About the Opportunity

Are you an experienced IT and operations leader with a passion for driving team performance, operational excellence, and business continuity? This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established insurance company with over 25 years of experience delivering innovative, client-focused solutions in the South African market. As an IT Operations Manager, you will lead multiple teams across IT Infrastructure, Support, and Facilities, ensuring seamless operations, robust security, and efficient processes that support the company’s strategic goals.


Role Overview

As the IT Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing three critical teams — IT Infrastructure, Support, and Facilities. You will ensure that servers, networks, systems, and physical assets are maintained at optimal performance, that business continuity plans are tested and robust, and that operational processes are efficient and compliant.

Working closely with the Chief Operations Officer, you will lead your teams to achieve business goals, mentor staff, implement improvement projects, and drive efficiencies across operations. This is a senior leadership position that requires a strategic mindset combined with a strong foundation in IT, security, and facilities management principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of IT Infrastructure, Support, and Facilities teams, ensuring optimal performance and service delivery.
  • Develop and implement processes, policies, and efficiencies to support business goals and team collaboration.

  • Ensure servers, networks, IT systems, and building infrastructure are maintained, secure, and reliable.
  • Drive team development, mentorship, and upskilling, ensuring alignment with KPIs and strategic objectives.
  • Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance operational effectiveness across IT and facilities functions.
  • Act as a mentor and leader to junior team members, providing guidance and support for their professional growth.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT operations or facilities management leadership roles.
    • Proven track record in managing multiple teams in an IT infrastructure or operations environment.
    • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, system administration, and building/facilities management.
    • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
    • Excellent internal workflow management skills, ensuring teams are aligned and tasks are completed efficiently.

      Preferred Skills

      • Experience with IT service management tools, monitoring systems, and facilities management software.
      • Technical knowledge of solar power, battery backup, and generator maintenance.
      • Familiarity with policy development, compliance standards, and business continuity frameworks.
      • Exposure to cybersecurity practices and infrastructure best practices.
