About the Opportunity

A leading company in warehouse management is looking for a highly skilled Operations Manager to oversee and manage its daily business operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the FMCG sector, managing large teams in a 24-hour operational environment. You will be responsible for driving the company’s operational strategy, managing a team of over 90 employees, and ensuring the smooth running of the warehouse, with a focus on growth, efficiency, and profitability.

Role Overview

As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring that all activities are carried out efficiently and effectively within a 24-hour operation. You will be tasked with developing and implementing strategies for growth, improving revenue, and managing team performance. Additionally, you will be responsible for budgeting, financial analysis, and identifying opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Degree or Diploma in Business Management, Supply Chain, or Distribution (experience with Mega/Large Distribution Centres preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operations management role, ideally within the FMCG sector.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to manage and motivate a large team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with a proactive nature and a strong work ethic.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer software, particularly MS Office (SAP and WMS knowledge essential).

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Experience in warehouse management systems (WMS) with SAP expertise is crucial.
    • Experience in managing large-scale operations, ideally within FMCG.
    • Strong financial acumen, with experience analyzing accounting and financial data.
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, 24-hour operation.
    • Must have a valid RSA driver’s license and own transport (beneficial).
    • Flexible and willing to work varying hours as needed.

      Preferred Skills

      • Experience with SAP, is essential.
      • Knowledge of FMCG industry operations and logistics.
      • Strategic thinking and a strong focus on identifying and capitalizing on growth opportunities.
      • Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
      • Ability to work under pressure and manage a 24-hour operation.
      • Must have a valid RSA driver’s license and own transport (beneficial).
      • Ability to work flexible hours as required.
