The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in woodworking, furniture building, and repairs. The role requires expertise in constructing, repairing, and assembling wooden fixtures and furniture for residential and commercial projects. As a Qualified Carpenter, you will be responsible for the fabrication, repair, and installation of wooden fixtures such as cabinets, doors, floors, and furniture. You will be required to use various woodworking tools and machinery to ensure that tasks are completed to high-quality standards. Your work will include both the design and construction of custom furniture, as well as performing maintenance and repair duties.
- Build, repair, and install wooden fixtures, including cabinets, doors, frameworks, and floors.
- Use woodworking machines, hand tools, and power tools to shape and join materials.
- Assemble and fasten materials using screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
- Fix furniture pieces as required, ensuring structural integrity and finish quality.
- Cut, shape, and join wood to specifications as per design requirements.
- Repair various types of furniture, including chairs, shelves, couches, etc.
- Ensure all tasks are completed according to safety standards and company procedures.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet project timelines and client specifications.
| Required Skills and Qualifications |
- 5+ years’ experience in carpentry or a similar position.
- Certificate from a recognized carpentry course (advantageous).
- Experience in building and repairing various types of furniture, including wooden chairs, shelves, and couches.
- Proficient in using woodworking machines, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong artisan, carpentry, and technical skills.
- Ability to follow detailed design specifications and drawings.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Must reside within reasonable travelling distance of the East Rand area.
- Design experience or the ability to read and interpret design plans (advantageous).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver quality workmanship.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Previous experience in a shopfitting or furniture-building environment is highly desirable.
